Selected students of the third year of the Department of Regional Tourism have had the chance to participate in the course of GDS Galileo. Galileo is a global reservation system (GDS – Global Distribution System), which stores airline schedules, fares and conditions of most airlines in the world. It is commonly used for booking and ticketing. The course lasted from 1st to 5th February 2016, during which students had the opportunity to get insight into the world of air tickets, how to find a flight, make reservations, look up prices including taxes and value the tickets. At the end of the week on Friday we took the final exam to test our gained knowledge.
Based on the results of the test students are going to receive a certificate, which allows them to work in travel agencies that use the mentioned reservation system. Mrs. Bozena Molnárová, who led the course, not only enriched students with the knowledge about making reservations, but also with some interesting stories from her own work experience. On behalf of all the participating students I would like to thank to the Department of Regional Tourism and especially to Mrs Molnárová for the training in question, thus combining theory with practice.
