As every year, the 22nd International Fair of Travel (ITF) Slovakiatour, lasting from 28.1. to 31.1. 2016 January was also about tourism, gastronomy, hunting and wellness.
Third-grade students of of the Regional tourism study programme had the opportunity to visit the fair and broaden their knowledge in the given areas again. The great advantage of the fair is that you have the chance to meet experts of the mentioned areas. At the fair of tourism we could see presentations of countries from all around the world and the regions of Slovakia, as well as of travel agencies or various airlines. Countries were represented by their residents, so visitors had the opportunity to become acquainted with local customs and learn more about the destination. For example, Morocco attracted visitors’ attention with a belly dancer and henna paiting. .
At the fair of gastronomy Danubius Gastro, you could find and taste anything from coffee or tea thorugh cheese and chocolate to alcohol... One could also get information from the producers of the exhibited specialities, for example, about the process of production. As a curiosity I have chosen Gentlejam, a company that produces jams and sauces flavoured with alcohol. One of the most interesting combination, which may be mentioned, was the blackcurrant jam with gin or the traditional plum jam with plum brandy.
We are very thankful to the Department of Tourism for the opportunity to visit the fair, because we could see again how theory met practice!
